Tesla and Sunrun set a US home-battery record: 745 MW to California's grid
Tesla and Sunrun just set a U.S. residential battery record: 745 MW to California's grid on Oct 6, enough for every home in San Francisco and San Jose at peak.
Sunrun's press release today says the companies discharged home batteries through multi-hour evening peaks during an October heat wave, after CAISO day-ahead prices cleared $200/MWh. Tesla Energy had already reported that more than 85,000 Powerwall owners alone sent over 600 MW in that Tuesday event, the bulk of the combined total.
That beats the 580 MW residential record from Sept 9, and it came a day after a 669 MW dispatch on Oct 5.
I keep watching these home-battery VPP numbers climb.
