Tesla confirmed the date on X after moving the outdoor event from October 1 because of severe weather. Tesla then confirmed on X that the event streams live Thursday at 7:55pm Central (CDT), which is 01:55 Friday 16 Oct in Ireland and the UK.
What the 2017 unveil claimed:
- 0-60 mph in 1.9 s
- 620 miles of range
- 200 kWh battery
- Top speed over 250 mph
In June 2018 Elon Musk wrote that a “SpaceX option package” would add “~10 small rocket thrusters arranged seamlessly around car.” Cold-gas thrusters push high-pressure gas out of nozzles, which is how Falcon 9 steers its booster.
The original Roadster has been orbiting the Sun since Falcon Heavy’s first flight in 2018.
I want to see what the thrusters actually do.
Start time: 7:55pm CDT, Thursday 15 Oct (Source: Tesla on X).
