Foundation Series Cybertruck at dusk
Cybertruck — truck utility meets stainless-steel experiment.

Verdict

A genuine truck experiment that also happens to be a meme. Buy it in markets where it is sold and fits your use case — not as a fantasy daily everywhere else.

Buy if

You are in a market where it is sold, need truck utility, and want steer-by-wire / 48V architecture today.

Skip if

You need a global daily, tight-city parking, or type approval that does not exist in your region yet.

Who it’s for

Cybertruck is Tesla building the timeline’s favourite prop out of stainless steel — and then asking it to tow, haul, and commute. Primary audience is North America and other markets where it is actually delivered. Everywhere else, treat this page as a product brief, not a shopping list.

Drive & handling

Owners describe a quiet, quick truck that shrugs off broken pavement. Steer-by-wire is the adaptive story: once it clicks, conventional steering can feel older. It is still a large, wide vehicle — great on open roads and worksites, less fun in dense historic cores.

Cabin & daily use

Vault bed, powered tonneau, and an interior that looks like a prototype that shipped. Practicality is real for truck tasks; everyday urban living depends entirely on your streets, parking, and whether you need the bed more than a Model Y hatch. The exoskeleton is maintenance theatre — fingerprints, panels, and alignment discourse included.

Charging & ownership

Efficiency is not the selling point; capability and architecture are. Charging uses the same Tesla network story where supported. Insurance, repair, and parts logistics are still maturing compared with 3/Y. Price moves with trim and options — value is “do you need this tool?” not “is it cheaper than a 3.”

Software & FSD

Same FSD ambition, different body and sensor geometry. US rollouts teach the stack; other regions will decide on their own clocks. Do not assume Cybertruck timing matches Model Y timing for assisted driving.

Bottom line

Fascinating product. Correct buy only where it is sold, street-legal for you, and matched to truck work or a deliberate lifestyle choice. For a global daily, the answer is still almost always 3 or Y.
